Sevilla conquered their demons away from home by coming from behind to win 4-3 at struggling Deportivo in the Primera Division.
Unai Emery's side had lost their last four away trips in the league and their trip to Riazor got off to a bad start when Oriel Riera opened the scoring for Deportivo in the 27th minute.
But Vitolo levelled a few minutes later and then gave the visitors the lead early in the second half.
Kevin Gameiro's penalty gave Sevilla a bigger advantage which was then reduced as Riera scored again, only for Sidnei's own goal to put the game out of Depor's sight - although Lucas Perez scored from the penalty spot for the Galicians in injury time.
The win keeps Sevilla fifth in the table and cuts the gap on fourth-placed Valencia - who travel to Atletico Madrid on Sunday - to four points, but Depor remain two points off the relegation zone.
The Galicians did a good job containing Sevilla in the early stages and should have taken the lead midway through the first half when Luisinho's ball found Lucas Perez and the striker made his way into the area but blasted wide of the near post.
Depor did take the lead just a few minutes later, however. Sidnei recovered the ball in the centre circle and gave it to Perez, who in turn found Ivan Cavaleiro down the right wing. The Portuguese rolled the ball in towards the near post for Riera to turn in first time and score his first goal in eight starts for Deportivo.
But Sevilla responded well. The in-form Vitolo darted down the left wing and played in Carlos Bacca in the area. The Colombian turned in the box and held the ball up before squaring back to Vitolo, who controlled and then struck low past Depor goalkeeper Fabricio.
The hosts began the second half well but soon found themselves behind. Diogo Figueiras and Aleix Vidal combined down the right and the ball rolled to the middle of the box, where Vitolo arrowed it into the bottom far corner.
Vitolo was not done with terrorising Deportivo's defence, and was later brought down by Pablo Insua and won a penalty, calmly converted by substitute Gameiro.
Riera scored again from close range to give the Galicians hope of a comeback, and they kept pushing for the equaliser - but in doing so left themselves vulnerable to the counter-attack.
The hosts were punished with nine minutes remaining when Gameiro drove through the middle unchallenged and passed to Vitolo, whose cross was turned in by Sidnei.
Helder Costa won a penalty for Depor in injury time and although Perez converted it, there was no time left to search for another goal.
