Stephan Lichtsteiner earned Juventus a 1-1 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach just a month after undergoing heart surgery.
The Swiss defender, making his first appearance since having the procedure to cure breathing difficulties, smashed in a superb equaliser before half-time.
Fabian Johnson had fired the German side ahead while Juventus had to play most of the second half with 10 men after Anderson Hernanes was sent off.
The hosts almost went ahead after 13 minutes when Mahmoud Dahoud hit a swerving shot from well outside the area which crashed back off the crossbar with Gianluigi Buffon stranded.
Five minutes later Gladbach did get in front after Giorgio Chiellini failed to clear a low cross into the box.
Raffael collected the loose ball and played in Johnson to coolly slot the opening goal past Buffon.
Italy captain Buffon was in called into action shortly after when he had to tip Ibrahima Traore's shot over, and he then had to deal with Havard Nordtveit's powerful low drive.
Juventus eventually managed to get a foothold in the game, though, and home keeper Yann Sommer saved from Paulo Dybala before Chiellini headed wide.
Patrice Evra was next to try his luck, the French full-back's header forcing a superb diving save from Sommer.
But Sommer was beaten a minute before the interval when Paul Pogba lifted the ball over the Gladbach defence and Lichtsteiner smashed a stunning volley into the net.
Juventus were reduced to 10 men shortly after half-time when Hernanes saw red for bringing Alvaro Dominguez.
But they held on for a point thanks to another stunning save from Buffon to keep out a close-range header from Dahoud.
