Getafe move clear of trouble after home win over Villarreal

Getafe moved clear of the Primera Division relegation zone after deservedly beating Villarreal 2-0.
Angel Lafita gave the hosts the lead midway through the first half with a powerful finish into the far corner and early in the second half the forward laid on a pass for Alvaro Vazquez to tap in to an empty net.
The Madrid side move up to 13th in the table thanks to the win, four points above the bottom three, while Villarreal slip down to sixth place and are without a win in their last three games.
Getafe have failed to win a single away game this term but have been kept afloat by their consistent record at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, and although they got off to difficult start, they picked up their fourth win in seven home games by outplaying Marcelino's side.
Villarreal booked their place in the last 32 of the Europa League on Thursday with a 1-0 win over Rapid Vienna and nearly got off to an ideal start here, Manu Trigueros hitting the crossbar with just eight minutes gone.
Matias Nahuel also sent a shot just wide of the post but it was Getafe who took the lead on 21 minutes, when Lafita entered the area and slammed the ball into the far corner.
Villarreal goalkeeper Alphonse Areola made a number of important saves before the break to keep his side in the game but could do little about Getafe's second as Lafita again marauded into the area and rolled the ball back for Vazquez to score with ease.
