Paris Saint-Germain knock four past Leicester City in Los Angeles

Paris Saint-Germain closed their International Champions Cup campaign in style with a 4-0 thrashing of Leicester City in Carson, California, on Saturday.

Edinson Cavani, Nanitamo Jonathan Ikone, Lucas Moura and Odsonne Edouard all found the back of the net as the French champions eased past their English counterparts at the StubHub Center to position themselves well to defend their title from last summer's foray in the USA.

Ikone, who scored the opening goal against Real Madrid in Columbus, Ohio, earlier this week, impressed once again by winning the penalty for Cavani's opener and adding the second himself -- from an excellent Thomas Meunier cross -- before half-time.

Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was also convincing, making a number of saves to keep the Leicester attack at bay. The 23-year-old made a particularly good stop to deny Riyad Mahrez's goal-bound free-kick in the first half.

PSG coach Unai Emery has a decision to make over his starting goalkeeper ahead of the Trophee des Champions clash with Olympique Lyonnais in Klagenfurt, Austria, next week and Areola will have done his chances of selection over Kevin Trapp no harm with his display.

Lucas came on as one of six early second half substitutes -- including debutant Grzegorz Krychowiak -- and swiftly scored with a close range header from a Maxwell cross after taking over the captain's armband from Thiago Motta.

Although there was no still no Marco Verratti for Les Parisiens, the Ligue 1 giants did get a late goal from promising youth academy graduate Edouard.

The 18-year-old joins Ikone in opening his professional account with PSG at this summer's ICC and in the young pair, as well as 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship top scorer Jean-Kevin Augustin, the French capital outfit have some very bright attacking prospects this coming season.
