Thomas Muller brace guides Bayern Munich into DFB Pokal final

Bayern Munich kept their Treble dreams alive with a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen taking them into the DFB Pokal final.

Two goals from Thomas Muller were enough to see Pep Guardiola's men through to the final, where they will meet either Hertha Berlin or Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern were made to work hard for their trip to the Olympiastadion, though, as Bremen put up a good fight.

The opening goal came 30 minutes in when Bayern took advantage of a slip from Clemens Fritz which allowed Muller to head in Xabi Alonso's corner unchallenged. Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald got both hands to the ball but was unable to keep it out.

Fritz received consolation and encouragement from his teammates, who were soon on the attack searching for an equaliser.

A mistake at the other end, this time by an overzealous Manuel Neuer who gave the ball away while outside his area, went unpunished as Sambou Yatabare's lob lacked the legs to beat the Germany goalkeeper as he scampered back to his line.

Jannik Vestergaard went within inches of meeting Theodor Gebre Selassie's low cross as Bremen played Bayern at their own game.

Bremen thought they had levelled moments later when David Alaba lobbed his own goalkeeper under pressure from Fin Bartels -- but too much pressure as far as the referee was concerned, and he ruled the goal out.

While Bremen were upset about that decision, they were rightly incensed when Arturo Vidal was awarded a penalty as Janek Sternberg slid past him inside the penalty the area and the referee pointed to the spot in what replays showed to be a harsh decision.

Muller sent Wiedwald the wrong way to knock the stuffing out of Bremen and take Bayern into the final, keeping them on course for three trophies this season with the Bundesliga and the Champions League also in their sights.
