Abel Hernandez, Mathias Corujo help Uruguay end Copa campaign with a win

Uruguay signed off from the Copa America Centenario with a win over Jamaica despite Edinson Cavani's continued woes in front of goal.

Abel Hernandez, starting up front as Luis Suarez was again left on the bench, gave Uruguay a half-time lead in Santa Clara, at the San Francisco 49ers' Levi's Stadium.

In the second period, Je-Vaughn Watson's unlucky own goal and Mathias Corujo's first international strike made it 3-0.

Jamaica keeper Andre Blake made an early save from Abel Hernandez, with the resulting corner headed wide by Cavani.

Blake cleared a ball straight to Cavani but the Paris Saint-Germain striker, scoreless in this tournament, took too long over the chance and saw his shot saved.

Strike partner Hernandez showed him how it was done in the 21st minute, the Hull hitman latching onto Nicolas Lodeiro's weighted pass and lifting the ball past Blake with his weaker right foot for the opening goal.

Blake made a good low save from Hernandez to keep Uruguay's lead to a single goal at half-time.

The Reggae Boyz started the second half positively but Michael Hector's curling shot was saved by Fernando Muslera and Garath McCleary blasted just wide.

The unfortunate Cavani headed against the far post before Uruguay got their second, Lodeiro's low cross diverted by Hernandez against the hand of Watson and in.

Cavani's next opportunity went begging when he kicked the legs of defender Jermaine Taylor instead of the ball, and Wes Morgan made a good interception to prevent him following up when Blake saved Matias Vecino's long-range drive.

Cavani tricked past Adrian Mariappa but skimmed the roof of the net but Watson's error gifted Uruguay substitute Corujo a late third.

A wayward Cavani header was a fitting final act as both teams departed the tournament, with Mexico and Venezuela qualifying from Group C.
