Atletico Madrid recover from derby defeat to cruise at Osasuna

Diego Godin and Kevin Gameiro scored within two minutes of each other as Atletico Madrid bounced back from their derby disappointment with a 3-0 La Liga victory at Osasuna.

Diego Simone's men were defeated 3-0 by rivals Real Madrid at home last weekend, seven days after losing against Real Sociedad, but they got back on track domestically with a comfortable win on the road.

An early penalty save from Jan Oblak prevented them from falling behind, and Godin and Gameiro found the net in the 36th and 37th minute before substitute Yannick Carrasco scored in stoppage time to leave struggling Osasuna in the relegation zone.

Atleti were fearing the worst in the 14th minute when, from a long ball into the box, Jose Maria Gimenez was adjudged to have pushed Oriol Riera in the back.

Roberto Torres stepped up and went to Oblak's left, but the Slovenian goalkeeper guessed correctly to keep it out and record his fourth penalty save from the eight he has faced while with the club.

Godin then nodded the visitors ahead from Koke's corner to score his 20th goal for Atletico, 18 of which have come from his head, before Gameiro added a second moments later by collecting Angel Correa's dink over the top to blast into the far corner.

Simone's side were denied a clear penalty themselves when Oier clearly used his arm to push away Tiago's pull-back on the line, but Carrasco added a third late on anyway by slotting under Nauzet Perez.
