Moss da grand slam en paliza de Atléticos
OAKLAND, California -- Brandon Moss conectó un grand slam y los Atléticos de Oakland dieron a Jeff Samardzija el jueves un mayor apoyo ofensivo que el que ha tenido toda la temporada en una victoria de 13-1 sobre los Astros de Houston.
Jed Lowrie pegó tres hits y remolcó una carrera por unos Atléticos que poseen la mejor foja de Grandes Ligas (63-38) y se hayan 25 juegos sobre el promedio de .500, su mayor ubicación de la campaña.
Chris Carter aportó un cuadrangular por los Astros, que cayeron a marca de 2-4 tras la pausa por el Juego de Estrellas.
Samardzija (2-1) recibió un sencillo del venezolano Jose Altuve para luego retirar en orden a 10 bateadores seguidos antes del 20mo jonrón de Carter que colocó a Houston en la pizarra. No otorgó pasaportes y ponchó a seis.
Después del batazo de Carter, Samardzija retiró en fila a 12 de 13 rivales. Carter fue el único pelotero de los Astros en pisar tercera ante Samardzija.
Samardzija tenía foja de 2-7 con los Cachorros pese a una efectividad de 2.83. Llegó al juego con el antepenúltimo apoyo ofensivo de las mayores con 3,05 carreras por actuación.
