Omar Bravo scores twice as Chivas hang on to win Super Clasico

Omar Bravo scored twice and Chivas Guadalajara held on with 10 men to defeat Club America 2-1 in the Super Clasico on Saturday night.

America controlled the early stages before Bravo pounced on a mistake from Osvaldo Martinez to open the scoring in the 15th minute.

Martinez, pressurized by Jorge "Chaton" Enriquez, passed the ball back to goalkeeper Moises Munoz, but it was short and Bravo coolly stroked the ball into the unguarded net.

Six minutes before half-time, Bravo doubled Chivas' lead with a glancing header from a perfectly weighted cross from Raul Lopez.

America got back into the match when Carlos Salcido was sent off for a rash challenge inside the box on Darwin Quintero.

Martinez smashed in the resulting penalty one minute before the break and momentum seemed the have switched towards Las Aguilas.

Chivas, however, defended their one-goal lead and held on to win as America pressed forward.

Jair Pereira headed the ball off the line just as it seemed to be dropping into the goal in the 78th minute.

Goalkeeper Antonio Rodriguez made a brave punch on the ball near the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.

America though they had a late equaliser when Oribe Peralta had a goal disallowed in the 87th minute, though replays showed he appeared to be onside.
