Levante remain rooted to the foot of the Primera Division after suffering defeat against local rivals Valencia on Saturday night.
With only one win to their name heading into the derby not much would have been expected from the visitors at the Mestalla, and the match went to form as Nuno Espirito Santo's side went sixth with a 3-0 win.
Paco Alcacer's penalty just after the hour set Valencia on their way to victory and strikes from Sofiane Feghouli and Zakaria Bakkali wrapped up an impressive victory for the hosts.
Levante's only win this season came against Villarreal at the start of the month but since then Rubi's side have shipped 10 goals in three defeats to sit bottom of the table with just six points.
They started well against their neighbours and could have been ahead on 18 minutes but Roger saw his effort come back off the crossbar after he had been played in by Tono.
That was as good as it got for Levante, although they made it through to the interval without falling behind as both Alcacer and Feghouli could not convert decent chances.
Andre Gomes drew a save out of Ruben in the Levante goal as the hosts continued to strive for the opener during the early stages of the second half.
But the goal came from the penalty spot on 64 minutes as Feghouli was tripped by Ruben Martinez, with Alcacer stepping up to slot home his third league goal of the season.
Daniel Parejo came close to adding a second with an impressive free-kick but the advantage was doubled shortly afterwards as Feghouli tapped home from close range.
The points were secured with 10 minutes remaining as teenage Belgium international Bakkali thrashed an effort past Ruben from outside the box.
Jordi Xumetra passed up the chance to score a late consolation for the visitors as he hit a shot straight at Jaume Domenech but it was another night to forget for the Primera Division strugglers, who entertain Deportivo next weekend ahead of the international break.
Meanwhile, Valencia prepare for their Champions League meeting at Genk on Wednesday night before a tough trip to Celta Vigo.
